Patricia Ann Balling (Best)

Bev and I became friends in 8th grade when my family moved to Lombard.  I spent many hours at her house listening to Kingston Trio songs and just being silly teenagers, talking about our crushes.  In high school we were twirlers together and had a lot of fun driving around in her Karmann Ghia.  I was in her wedding when she married Tom Gardner and my husband and I often got together with Bev and Tom for fondue nights, card games, and a very memorable John Denver concert at Poplar Creek.  At one point she was living in Geneva and we were in St. Charles so we got to spend time together while our kids were growing up.  The last time I saw her was at my 50th birthday party in Geneva.

We retired and moved west, and she and Tom moved to central Illinois and somehow we lost touch................I was hoping to reconnect with her at the reunion, and was so saddened to hear of her recent death.  She was a loyal friend and we shared some good and bad times together.  She and Tom were always meant for each other and together they raised two great boys, Tommy and Scott.  Bev loved antiques, had a real knack for decorating, and even tried her hand at writing fiction.  My heart goes out to her family.

Bev and I were friends, along with Pat Balling Best, all through high school.  We were all three twirlers in the band.  Bev, Marilynn,  Pat, Sherrill and I practised twirling at school and at our homes.  We had many pajama parties over the years.  And, I can remember Bev's Karmann Ghia (yellow, I think).   We all got along together well and had great fun over the years.  After high school I didn't have much contact with Bev except that we both attended Pat's surprise 50th birthday party in St. Charles.  I was surprised and upset to hear of Bev's death.  My best to Tom and their sons.
