Marsha and Marilynn Hess saved me from a grammar school disaster.  In March of 1956, my family moved from Chicago to Lombard.  Marilynn, my next door neighbor, and Marsha, who lived on the next street over, walked me to Pleasant Lane for my first day of school in fifth grade.  They introduced me to the Principal, Mr. Mahoney, who welcomed me to pleasant Lane and said that he would put me in Mrs. Bruss's class.  Marsha and Marilynn were in Mrs. Bailey's class (one of the finest teachers I have known) and they asked if I could be in their class as well.  Mr. Mahoney said that Mrs Bailey had too many students in her class already and that Mrs. Bruss had room for me.. Marsha and Marilynn didn't give up.  They were relentless in their pleadings and Mr. Mahoney finally gave up.  I was in Mrs. Bailey's class for both the remainder of fifth grade and sixth grade the next year.  Not bad for my first day in Lombard.  I got to be in class with the best teacher and two of the best girls at Pleasant Lane.  Those of you who went to PL know what I'm talking about!.  Thank you Marsha and Marilynn.

Does anyone know the name and address of the cemetary where Marsha Janes was laid to rest?  I would like to visit her grave site and pay my respects to a great lady and old friend. ----Bob Pederson

I have been greatly saddened reading that Marsha had passed. I hope God loves her like all of us that knew and loved her then and now.

Marsha and I were great friends from Pleasant Lane days through HS and after. She was fun, loving, and a great friend. It was fun to watch her frustration as I would beat her continously on the bowling game I had in the basement of our house. Her mother and my mother worked together during our grade school days which is how our friendship developed. I introduced her to Paul Borum and helped set up their first date.

My prayers and love will always continue for a true friend.

Sam
