John was a good guy, or as a friend once rated guys, an RGG--a really good guy. I never played football for East but I know he was one of the captains of the team, which I assume was bestowed on him by his teammates. I remember him as a humorous guy, always with a wisecrack or joke. I think he went to that glorious grade school, Hammerschmidt, but my memory is a little hazy on that. I believe when we put together our booklet for the 20th or 25th reunion, John listed his occupation as a "route driver" for a baking company.
Maybe others of you can clarify some of this for me--if so, thanks in advance!
